Lately.....Journal entry

If you come here for the pictures, you may want to stop now.  This post won't have any fun pictures, because I haven't taken any in almost 2 weeks!  Amazing, I know!  Well, actually I've taken lots of pictures, but they are all from preschool.

I was just thinking that I needed to write down a few thoughts and a few tidbits about my sweet family.

Life is so busy. Sometimes it feels like I let it get out of control and lots of sweet moments are passing me by.  In fact, I know that I do that.  It's a bad habit of mine.  But I don't know how to say no.

My sweet kids are so good to put up with me! I am so blessed that they are all so sweet-natured and most of the time, well behaved!  J.D. and Tyson are such good helpers and they help keep the house picked up and do a big chunk of my chores.  I love them for it! They are continually helping Little Miss Pip to clean up her room, because she is continually making a mess of it!  Tea party's 24/7.  That's the life Piper would lead if she could.

Josh is so busy.  He works so hard for our family. It's sad, because we don't see him as much as we (I) would like, but we are well provided for and for that, I am grateful.  We may not have everything we want, but we have everything we need!

JD is so busy with school, scouts and sports.  He really seems to be enjoying choir and loves to sing.  He loves scouts.  Last week we didn't have den meeting, because we had pack meeting.  J.D. beat us home on Wednesday.  I came in and he was decked out in full uniform waiting on the couch to go.  He was so sad when we didn't have scouts.  Right now it is basketball season.  He is loving it and loves being on the same team as Camden.  Although, he is counting the days until football season.

Tyson is Tyson.  My sweet little guy, who melts my heart.  His new obsession is to help me do dishes.  He unloads the dishwasher and is so proud of himself, every time he does it. He is counting down the days until baseball starts.  We have to get through soccer first!  He loves to play baseball and is really good at it.  We went and practiced a few nights this week.  He is loving Kindergarten and has some really good friends, Logan and Aidan in his class. The only one missing is Carson G. But he gets to see him alot because of PTO play dates :).

Piper is a mess maker.  That is just the stage of a 3-year-old.  She is so much fun though.  She is so girly!  It's amazing to me, because I am so not!  She loves to have her nails done, her makeup done and loves, loves to wear tutu's.  She wants to dance so badly and we are trying to find her a class.  She is actually quite coordinated for her age and I look forward to seeing what she can do.  She is loving preschool and loves to hang with her girls Addison and Adilyn.  They are truly the three musketeers.

As for me.  I'm busy.  Busy with being mom, busy being Teacher Brandy, busy being Sister Doty, busy being the Alisons Pantry lady and busy being one of those crazy PTO ladies!  I have really enjoyed preschool because I get to hang with Shelley and I love, love, love the kids.  Most of them :).  I am sort of enjoying scouts, because it is fun to see them excel and it's fun to be with JD.  I hope someday to learn to love it.  I am loving PTO this year.  It's so much fun and all the girls and I have gotten to be really good friends. I love that bunch of gals!  Alison's Pantry is continually growing and it's been such a blessing.

As for being a mom, it's the greatest thing ever.  I am truly blessed with wonderful kids.  I am so grateful for them and the joy they bring!

Sweet Moments

Today was a good day.

I had some sweet experiences with my kids.  There were of course moments that weren't so sweet.  For instance, tonight in Lins, I went grocery shopping with all 3 of my kids.  Not sweet, but the rest of these moments make up for that one moment of craziness.

I went to pick JD up from choir today and it was cold and starting to rain.  I was a just a few minutes late getting to the school and JD was waiting outside and pacing the sidewalk.  He looked really agitated.  The first thing he said was, "Mom, we've got to go find my friend Nolan.  He had to walk home and he has not coat.  I tried to give him my sweatshirt, but he wouldn't take it.  Can we go find him and give  him a ride?"
We went looking for Nolan and found him just down from the school.  The rain was starting to drizzle.  We tried to give him a ride, but he wouldn't accept it.  He was just about in tears. We tried to get him to take JD's sweater, but he kept saying no.  Finally, JD asked me to stop the car.  He jumped out and ran his sweater over to Nolan and made him take it.  He got back in and I watched Nolan pull on his sweatshirt and my heart was so full.  I am raising a sweet, sweet spirit.  He has so much compassion and empathy for others.  It was a sweet moment.

Later,  I was working with JD on his cubscout book.  We worked on the Duty to God chapter.  He was amazing me with his answers to the questions I was asking.  He is so full of knowledge.  He does listen!!!  I was so proud of how much he knew and how he answered the questions so thoughtfully.  He is going to be an amazing man someday.  I am so blessed that he calls me mom.

Laying on the couch tonight with Tyson after family home evening.  We were talking about being a missionary like Abinidi and Alma.  I asked Tyson if he was going to go on a mission.  He said, "Nope, I'd miss you to much."  It melted my heart.  He's a good kid.  A momma's boy, but oh so sweet and good.

And of course, we can't forget little Miss Piper.  The girl makes me climb the walls most days.  Today was no exception.  She is as sweet as she is full of attitude.  Today she was all over me, hugging me and kissing me all day.  She is my little angel.  I told her that I loved her this morning and she said, "Love you too!  And Poppa, and JD, and Tyse and my daddy!"

I had to write these moments down.  It seems that they are growing way to fast.  I miss them being babies.  At dinner Tyson told me that he wanted another brother.  I told him that we weren't going to have anymore kids.  And so we talked about that.  We talked about why they wanted another baby and we talked about what we would name a baby.  Just silly talk.  Tyson wants a brother but if we had a girl he wants to name her Jesabell.  And JD said, "I'm gonna pray to Heavenly Father for a brother."

Just sweet little moments.  I love my kids so much and am so thankful to be their mommy.

Michael

So this was a great weekend. Another beautiful weekend to remember always. I got to hang out with all the Carter family for Cole's blessing. Adam and Lindsay came down for the weekend and we love getting to hang with them. They have such cute boys. I didn't even get a picture of Quinton, because honestly I don't think he likes me, but Michael and I sure bonded!

He is possibly one of the cutest babies I have ever seen. Seriously, don't those eye's and cheeks scream cuteness.
He's also one of the most even tempered babies I've had the pleasure of knowing.
I spent a good chunk of Saturday holding him. And it made me happy beyond belief. It made my insides do crazy things and made me lose my mind. Poor Josh has been plagued all weekend with requests to let me have another baby!
Tyson loved him so much, he asked me if he could get another brother.
What a couple of cute boys!
Look at those big baby blues!
We were bored, so of course, we had to take some self-portraits. I like this one best. My gosh, but I like him more! Thanks Adam and Lindsay for making such cute babies and then letting me hold them. It made my weekend! Seriously!! It was so good to see you guys!

Blessings and Miracles

While the last few weeks of our lives have been some of the hardest of our married lives, they have also been a few of the most spiritual. I've been on my knee's praying for a lot of things lately. Everything from Josh's speedy recovery to patience and love for my family. It's hard when your all trapped in a house together with nowhere to go!!

We went to the specialist on Tuesday and he is amazing. If you live in Southern Utah and ever need a spine doctor, go see Ryan Church, he is amazing! He wanted to run a CT scan to get a better look at Josh's back. He told us that this was such an unusual injury for a healthy, 29-year-old, that he wanted to look a little deeper into things. He asked us a huge variety of questions, and told us that an injury of this manner in a healthy guy could indicate a variety of other problems, worse case scenario being bone cancer. Well, we came home and we weren't intending for him to get the testing, because we weren't sure how we were going to afford it. But Thursday morning, I woke up and told him that I wanted him to schedule it and that somehow, I knew Heavenly Father would let us be okay financially.

So we had the test and all this time Josh has been improving a little bit every day. Wednesday was the first day I could tell he was feeling much better. He got up and moved around a bit. Austin came down and I think that was like balm to the soul. He's not a guy who sits much and I could tell he was starting to have a bit of depression. He was outside and drove us into town. Thursday, he had his tests and then ran errands with me. We got the tests back on Friday, but the doctor still hasn't seen them. It says there is no fracture visible. I told Josh that it is amazing, that one week ago on an x-ray, a fracture was visible and now there is no indication of a fracture? Prayers and Priesthood blessings work, of that I have no doubt.

It also looks as though, for now we are going to be financially stable too. Heavenly Father answered our prayers in that way too. I am so grateful for those who are in tune with the spirit and have been an answer to our prayers. A million thank you and hugs are going your direction.

This has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. Josh and I have helped others on different occasions. We know what it's like to be on the giving end of things, and we've had times that we have been on the receiving end, but never to this extent. It's a humbling thing, but also one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had. I've had people walk into my life, some who were completely unexpected, and be answers to my own personal prayers. Walking, talking, breathing angels helping to bring a miracle into our lives. It's been an amazing experience.

And yet, I do realize, that we aren't finished with this experience. Josh has a way's to go, before he will be back to his active and crazy life. I may or may not end up going back to work. That is looming in front of me and it scares me. But I have been offered a job and that makes that decision, when it comes a little easier.

I've learned that you never take for granted the blessings you do have, and there are many. I think that sometimes we just get to busy and involved in our lives, that sometimes we forget to do the things we should. Life is a gift!! We need to make the most of it and do amazing things with it. I pray that I can always be in tune with the spirit and that I will be able to do amazing things for me and for my family. We are so blessed, so we need to share those blessings with others. I am truly grateful for all that I have been blessed with.

Thank you to those who have helped in any way. By bringing food, by lending a listening ear, for the many prayers in our behalf. For being friends, for being in tune and being an answer to a prayer. For those who have helped us stay afloat amidst the medical bills and medical costs, to those who have called and stopped by and to anyone who has blessed us in any way, I want to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart. We love you all!!!

Hamburger Arms

No pictures today folks. Just me, boring old me, talking. This is a journal entry, but feel free to read. I have no secrets!

You saw the post below, about my ceiling falling in? Yeah, that was awesome. It happened Thursday afternoon as I was getting ready to walk out the door to J.D.'s basketball game. And today, even more insulation fell out. My kids took the hockey sticks that go to the game table, and rather than leaving it in a pile, pretended it was hockey puck, sooooo I have insulation all over my back room.

Tyson walked into the kitchen the other day and said, "Mom, I don't want a terridactyle as a pet. I think I want a dog." Random, but there you go.

I had the chance to go to The Best of EFY today with the Young Women. Only one of my Mia Maids went. Bless her, I could do with a dozen Meagans. But it was so good! I laughed and laughed and we spiritually fed. We had one speaker, Greg Johnson, who talked to us about the importance of writing down spiritual thoughts and promptings, so that we don't forget them. He also shared several HILARIOUS stories with us about his kids. I laughed so hard, I had tears steaming down my face. It made me realize that I need to be better about writing down the things my kids say, because dang it, I have some pretty funny and amazing kids.

Then, I came home and my eczema, which is a tad bit out of control was really bothering me. I had 3 fingers that were swelled up to about twice their size. I ran over to talk to my mother-in-law, hoping against hope that she would tell me I would be okay until my appointment on Monday. Oh no! It looks like staph infection. SWEET! So Josh took me to the instacare. I spent 3 minutes with a Doctor who told me it was inflamed eczema and yes, my puffy fingers were infected. After an hour in the waiting room, $87.00 for the doctor visit and few prescriptions later, I am on the road to recovery. I think I may sneak into church tomorrow and listen to Joey's farewell talk, and then me and the Pipper are coming home. She has a nasty cough and has been running a fever. Plus, according to my sis-in-law, my arms look like hamburger! They do, it's pretty graphic. I could compete with any picture you can find on the web for eczema. YUCK!! Sure makes a girl feel attractive. I have 5 day's of steroids, which annoys me. That crap makes you gain weight. So much for the HCG, I just finished.

Another one of the speakers, Justin Sula, was also amazing! He spoke about choosing happiness now. How we can choose how we react to our circumstances. It was a great talk and one that I needed to hear. I have some awesome quotes and scriptures that I will share. I need to go through my notes. But it's good to hear, because really all of these bad things may be happening to us right now, I'm still incredibly happy and incredibly blessed!

Snow, Sweet Babies, & Good Times

First of all, I've decided that I take a ridiculous amount of pictures! 87 pictures in 3 day's. What's a girl to do with that many photo's.

Anyway, we spend the weekend in Salt Lake so that we could attend a baby blessing.
This little guy is scrumptious. I could eat his little cheeks. Seriously! He's pretty cute.

Look at little Micheal checkin' out Josh. I'd be worried too.
I want another baby. Gotta convince that good-lookin' guy that he wants one too!

Got to meet Michelle, who is my brothers girlfriend. I like her alot. She's a darling girl. I won't jinx it by saying what I hope happens, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Snow, snow everywhere! Snow in St. George, snow in Magna and snow in Marysvale! Of course we had to go out and play in it.
The kids were cracking me up! They were sliding on their tummies across the tramp. I was just waiting for one of them to slide off the trampoline and land on their face. I would have laughed my butt off. Until it was one of my kids and they had a broken arm! Thankfully all arms are intact and the children safe!
Snow angels!
You can barley see my face in this one. I was trying to get a picture and Josh shoved a snowball in my face right when I snapped the picture. Nice!
I LOVE this picture. Piper looks absolutely enchanted and my hubby is looking pretty hot! It's just a darling picture of two of my favorite people :).!

5 lbs.

When Josh and I were dating, my cute niece Tyler, was about 3 year-old. When I would ask her how much she loved me, she would always tell me that she loved me 5 lbs. Josh and I still use this phrase today. We text each other, 5 lbs, leave notes that say 5 lbs, and to us it means. I love you more than words can say.

Tonight Josh and I had the chance to go to a 10-year anniversary party for two of our very best friends. Aaron is Josh's best-friend. Josh was his best-man and Aaron was his. Aaron knew that Josh and I were perfect for each other and he introduced us. Tyson's middle name is Aaron. We kinda like him, if you can't tell. Anyway, we had the chance to go and watch him and Kym renew their wedding vows.

What a neat experience! It was so neat to see the way that they still look at each other and to hear them tell each other why they are so grateful for each other. What an amazing couple!

It got me thinking about Josh and I. I LOVE him. He is perfect for me. We compliment each other so completely. Today I called him at work and I knew right off that something wasn't right. I could hear it in his voice. He was having a bad day. I love that I know him that well, that I don't need to be told somethings wrong. I love that he's seen me at my WORST (it's not pretty) and he still loves me unconditionally. I love that he works so hard for our family. He works hard so that I can stay home with our kids and that means so much to me. I love that we have fun together. We don't even have to leave the house to have fun together. I love that he gets exasperated at me and my forgetfulness and that he supports me in all of my endeavors, though sometimes he does grumble under his breathe, all the while :)...

I love this guy! You are amazing Josh and I love you 5 lbs!

Gasoline

I just have to share this story somewhere, so we never forget it. Although, I am sure JD would like us to erase it from our memories.

Last night we were going to Mesquite to see my Uncle John. We haven't' seen him in 2 years and he was in Mesquite on business. So we thought we'd go and have dinner with him. So I got all the kids ready and when Josh got home we headed into town so we could get gas at Albertsons before we left. J.D. has a new obsession with helping pump the gas. He hopped out and went to help Josh. I am sitting in the front seat of the yukon and I see Josh go around the front and head into the store. I realize that J.D. is pumping gas by himself, so I hop out and go around the back and J.D. was holding the nozzle with one hand and looking at his finger on the other hand. He had pinched it when he had undone the stop. I told him to put the stop back down and was trying to help him, when all of the sudden he jerks the nozzle out of the tank and gas is squirting everywhere. All over the car, all over me, and all over J.D. I tried to grab the nozzle out of his hand, but he is jerking backwards, because gas is shooting back at us. We were soaked.

Josh comes back and starts SCREAMING at the top of his lungs at J.D. and J.D. is crying, of course. Josh had told him not to touch the nozzle, but of course, what is a 7-year-old boy going to do? It was not a good moment in the Doty family. Josh screaming, J.D. crying, and me trying to be the mediator in the ordeal. It was so embarrassing. We had to come home and change all of our clothes and I am washing them yet again, trying to get the smell out of them. I am sure to the onlookers, it was quite comical.

Well, we eventually made it to Mesquite, but without our children. My sweet father-in-law kept our kids because by the time we had everything all cleaned up and ready to go, it was quite late in the evening. Oh, the joy's of being a parent!

Journal Entry: My kids

For those of you who don't want to read this is a Journal entry ~

J.D.~ Oh how grown up you've gotten in the last few months. I know that sometimes you hate being the oldest, but your so good at it! You are so helpful and it makes my life easier. I know how you feel, because I was the oldest child and it's hard sometimes. I'm sorry I'm not always the most patient. I need to remember you are just a kiddo!

Have I told you how awesome you are lately? You've been playing football and having a blast! I think it may be one of your chosen sports. Your rock at it, dude! Your quick and tough. You pull flags off left and right. Your coach says that you have some real potential to do something with your talent.

You've had a great start to the school year. Second grade. Time flies by to quickly. Mrs. Thomas is your teacher and you seem to be doing well. At your first parent teacher conference we found out that you are reading above grade level and Mrs. Thomas said you have a great head for math. I love positive reports. She also thinks your really cute in all your cowboy gear!

I love you J.D. I love your bright happy attitude and I love how compassionate, kind and helpful you are. Your a good kid!

Tyson~ My sweet little man. You absolutely light up my life. Your smile is so contagious and so happy. Most of the time. Your going through a little Independence streak. You don't want us to call you Tootie any more. Every time one of us does you say, "I not Tootie. I Tyson!" It's so cute to hear you say it, that I call you Tootie more & more.

You are loving preschool this year. Your going 5 days a week and your behavior has done a 360. You seriously are so well behaved and you are doing so much better to use your mouth to say kind words.

You love race cars. LOVE THEM! You will carry around the same Matchbox cars for day's and play with them all day long. Your imagination is so great that way. You are on a kick of hanging your cars or your spiderman in our Halloween Spiderwebs, or in the blind ropes. You think it's hilarious!

I love you my blond headed boy. Gosh, your beautiful. Thanks for being so awesome and just being you my mini Josh!

Piper ~ Where to begin? Your my most strong willed child. I remember I thought Tyson was going to be extremely strong willed, but you my dear put your brothers to shame. Your strong willed, moody, crazy and wild. And I love all of it about you. Your tough as nails and don't put up with your brothers crap, but you also have a sweet little heart and you love to snuggle and hug them.

You are already potty trained and just barely two. You love to run around in your swimsuit. If it was up to you, you would live in it. It's starting to get cold here so we will see how you do in the next month with that! I honestly can't wait for you to wear clothes!

You are happy & cheerful most of the time. As long as your getting your way. You love to sit on my lap and to be held. You like to pretend you are a dog or a kitty. You lick us if your a puppy and pur if your a kitty. You love your Poppa, probably more than you love me or daddy and you love the 4-wheeler more than you probably love Poppa. Love you sweet Pip!!

8 Years Ago Today........

I married my best-friend!

Josh carved our initials in this tree the day after our wedding. I went looking for it on Sunday and was so glad that it was still there! It was a little nostalgic to go to Kolob this weekend, as that was where we spent the first week of our married lives.

The time flies by so fast. 8 years!! 3 kids!!! Lot's of memories and lot's of first in those years. It's not alway's been smooth sailing, but we get by with lot's of love and lot's of prayer. It's been an amazing experience, being married to my best-friend.

I love you Josh! Thank you so much for all you do. I know you work so hard for our family, so that I can stay home and I appreciate that. Thanks for loving me and for putting up with me!!
Happy Anniversary!

One of Those Days and My Crazy Ramblings

I've had the kind of day where crawling back into bed seems to be the best course of action. Of course every day could be like that if you let it, I suppose. I stumbled across this funny website called Frazzled Mom. There all pretty funny. I have several that apply to me personally, you should go check out all of her funnies. I particularly loved this one as it brings out one point that's happening in my life ~

You know you're a frazzled mom if...every time your two and half year old point blank refuses to go to the toilet, `I DON'T need to gooooooo!!!! and two minutes later pees on the floor and you want to kill her, cry like a baby and sign up for `failed mothers 101' all at the same time, whilst still being loving and supportive so toilet training is not a negative experience for her!!!!!!!!!!

I have to give Kudos's to Josh. At girls camp Maddie puked in the tent and it went all over Alexa's stuff. So here I am in the middle of cooking a YUMMY breakfast when I hear, "Sister Doty!!" And then Alexa came running over and asked me if I would go clean it up. I told her to give me 5 minutes to finish breakfast and I would pop over and clean it up. I really would have in 5 minutes, but Josh beat me to it. He went and cleaned it all up and I love him all the more for it!

So the moral of this story is that today I was driving around doing a few errand in good ole' Ivins, when Piper starts to cough. She's had a bit of a cold, but she' sleeping and I think nothing of it. She just keeps coughing harder and harder. I look in the mirror just in time to see her puke up the Top Ramen she had for lunch. I don't need to describe it, you can just imagine what a mess it made. So I pulled her out of the car and stripped her and sat her on my lap to make it home. We were only a few blocks away. The whole time I was thinking about how I hate throw up and how much I love Josh for cleaning up Maddie's. It was hard enough to clean up my own kiddo's mess, let alone someone else's. Even though I love her too!

I spent the day arguing with Tyson about why he couldn't wear his Spiderman costume from 2 years ago into town and then I spent the entire time at Target arguing with him about why I wouldn't buy him a Spiderman shirt. The boy would never take it off. I have got to steal away that costume. He wears it like capri's and it gives him a wedgie. Not that it bothers him, and honestly it gives me a good laugh every day!! And I mean everyday the kid rarely has it off. In fact he's sleeping in it as I type.

J.D. is on a I Want Golden Corral kick. We have 2 free meals there and it is killing him that we haven't used them yet. We just haven't had a night where all of us can go. I can't take 3 kids to Golden Corral by myself. He doesn't understand that. So tonight he was ticking off the people that we could ask to go with us to help. I kept telling him he would just have to wait. One of the names he mentioned was Eva. She lives up the street from us and I have been her visiting teacher forever. She's an older lady and quite fond of J.D. So Josh walks in the door and says, "J.D. said he's taking a walk." To where I ask? "He's going to visit Eva." So I told Josh that he was probably going to ask her to take him to Golden Corral. So Josh hurried and jumped in his truck and went and got him and sure enough, that was what he was going to do!

And that my friends is the kind of day I've had. Not to mention the HORRIFIC trip to Target. I always kick myself about 5 minutes into the trip. Why oh why do I do it to myself? I know that I should wait for Josh to get home so I can go without kids. And yet still I go and grind my teeth the entire time. Although, perusing the dollar bins at Target is like my personal brand of therapy.

Hope you all had a better day than I. I'm off to catch some sleep and start all over again tomorrow!

Iron Mission Museum

Yesterday, we had the chance to hang out in Cedar City with my sister and her family. They had a doctors appointment to go to and we came and picked up their kids and took them to the Iron Mission State Park. What a cool place! I am fascinated by anything that has to do with pioneers so I want to go back one of these day's when I don't have to chase 5 kids all over the place. They had great interactive activities for the kids and they had a ball playing in the Discovery corner. If your ever in Cedar, it's well worth it to check it out.

I Love Girls Camp

But I must admit, I am so glad it's over. It was a lot of work and I had a blast. We went to Marysvale and stayed at the Rose Ranch Resort in their private campground. It was so much fun for me to share my hometown with the girls.

I am thinking about going on hiatus. Atleast for awhile. but I do have to dive into being over the Mia Maids. Oh my! I already miss my beehives. Being a Mia Maid is an akward stage, isn't it??? I was blessed with many insights, but also concerns this week. I have several girls who probably don't like me, because I had to get after them several times. Oh well, Heavenly Father wanted me in Mia Maids, so I will go with a happy and kind of forced grin on my face and see if I can help.

This was the Beehive Castle. My brother-in-law had this beauty in his shed and let us borrow it. It's an old army tent and we put 12 beehives in it. Crazy, aren't we? They had a blast. This place is the the Taj Mahal. It was huge and fun and it leaked! OF COURSE IT DID! I spent the whole first day trying to fix leaks, but we finally got it. We fixed it with rigging some tarps over it and it worked great. They were a noisy bunch, those beehives. Oh my! I had to go tell them to go to bed at 12:30 in the morning the first night. I didn't so much mind the talking, it was the SCREAMING that go them in trouble. In front of their tent you see the 3 flags for Faith, Divine Nature & Individual Worth. We had the girls make flags to represent each value and it was amazing to see the creativity that they used on their flags. We had a visit from Helman himself. It was pretty awesome! This happened Friday night, just before testimony meeting and it really set the spirit for the meeting. We had 9 first year girls there. It was so much fun to see them during testimony meeting. You could tell they were so scared and it was funny to watch them and to encourage them and most of them got up and did it.

We had the opportunity to have Marvin Payne come and put on the stage performance of The Plane Maker! What a touching and sweet story and the man is a true story teller. It was great performance and one that is well worth seeing if you ever have the chance. This is Paul and Marivn singing a song to get us started. Paul is amazing on the Harmonica. He was our Chief Rock-a-lot!
Trying to stay dry under the canopy. It rained the first two days we were there. What would girls camp be without rain?

We did a service project at the elementary school. We went and helped lay sod. The girls had so much fun until it began to rain. It poured sheets on us and made the sod heavy and the dirt muddy. We sent the girls to wait out the rain and a few of us kept at it. It was a fun and very rewarding. I was suprised at how many of the girls said that this was their favorite part of girls camp. They really enjoyed.

And of course it turned into a mud fight. Pretty funny to watch. Here is my Rosie and Tawny. I kept calling them by the wrong names all weekend. Good thing they love me. We decided in the car on the way home to call them Rawny! They are inseparable and so sweet!!

Two more of my favorite girls! Taylor and Rochelle, trying their hand at the not so Jiffy Pop. the stuff takes forever. Who knew? It was a huge success though. The girls made it every night.

On Friday we hiked to the Bullion Canyon Falls. It's a fairly simple hike only a mile up and a mile back. We had some girls who struggled, and quite a few who were scared to actually hike into the falls. It was basically climbing to get down, but the 5 th years and the leaders helped all the girls down and we made it with no injuries! They all did it, except for Maddie who was so sick. She made it up the hill on Pauls shoulders and sat at the top and watched. We got a few of these awesome pictures. Some of the girls were crazy and and got a little wet. IT WAS FREEZING! Josh and Paul also jumped in and got right under the waterfall. But guys don't really care about that stuff do they?

It was so much fun to have Josh at camp as one of the Priesthood holders. It put a whole new spin on camp!! He was such a good sport and he even wore a pink shirt! Miracles still happen!! He was awesome to jump in and helped me in the kitchen the whole time he was there. He spent his time chauffering Rosie & Tawny around and was a great sport and even let Rosie drive his truck. Maddie threw up in the tent and Josh was the brave soul who went and cleaned it all up. I love you babe! Thanks for all your patience the last few weeks and for all your help! Your amazing!
Ahhhh......, my sweet girls! I love the 5th years! This was the awards ceremony. From L to R: Taylor, Kylee, Rosie, Tawny & Elisha!! It was amazing to see these girls step up and how they helped all our little beehives. They also were amazing to jump in and get things done without being asked. LOVE YOU GIRLS!
This was one of my favorite parts of camp. We had the girls write down the acts of service that they saw the other girls perform. Then we had them hang them in this tree! This picture does not do this tree justice. It was a hang out spot. Everyone would go and read about all the good that was going on in camp. It was so sweet to see them notice all that was being done.
Overall, I would say camp was a success. Camp at a ward level is amazing! I like it much better than stake camp. You get to really bond with your girls and the girls become even better friends I think. However, it is so much more work at this level. I would do it agian, as crazy as it sounds. Karen and I got to be great friends and I loved working with her. It was also nice to be able to get to know the other leaders a lot better. Especially going in as a new presidency, it was nice to bond with them and to strengthen that bond you need to be unified in this calling.
But now, I am off to pick up my house and try to unpack and hug on my kids. Have a great day!

Fishing in Enterprise

Yesterday, Josh decided at 1:00, o'clock that he wanted to take the kids fishing. We had a t-ball game at 5:30, so we knew it would have to be a quick trip, wherever we went. We ended up going to Enterprise. We only got to stay for about an hour-and a half, but had a blast.
J.D. was the only one to catch a fish. He was just sitting there and he says, "Hey dad, I think my line is stuck." But he had a fish on there. Lucky guy!
Josh gets so mad at the kids because they won't leave their poles alone. Casting is the funnest part of fishing, isn't it?

Tyson is the most impatient of all of us. He has me cast it and then he reels is right back in . We did that for an hour!!
Fisherman in training!
Sometimes when your taking pictures you catch the weirdest things. Piper is licking Tysons head. Random thing to do, isn't it?

My proof that I was really there.

A bunch of people I love!
J.D. and his fish! It's not a great picture, but J.D. kept dropping him in the dirt. So this was the only one I got.

A Memory.........

Today Josh and I were in Gospel Principles. Brother Proffit asked us to each pick out a picture from the life of the Savior and to share with the class what it meant to us. This is the picture that I picked. It has a spiritual meaning to me, but it also reminds of one of my very favorite memories of J.D.

J.D. was about 3 years old and he was being super naughty one day in sacrament. I took him into the hall and we were walking around and looking at the pictures. I was showing J.D. this picture and telling him the story, when all of the sudden he says, "WOW Mom!! I didn't know Jesus was a cowboy!" It is one of my very favorite memories. Every time I see this picture it makes me smile!

Hanging Out With Dad

Josh was off today so we spent the day hanging out. We went shopping this morning at D.I. and Old Navy who were having an awesome sale. I got J.D. a bunch of school clothes this morning. Then this afternoon it was pretty nice so we loaded up the 4-wheelers and J.D.'s dirt bike and headed out to the sand dunes. We love to go 4-wheeling and have so much fun every time we do. We need to do it more often because we have the 4-wheelers and everything that goes along with that, but life just gets so busy and sometimes it gets in the way of all the good things in life.

J.D. is doing so awesome at riding his dirt bike all by himself. He did lay it down a few times, but every time is better and better. He was riding around the truck and I could hear him singing to himself as he rode. So funny! He got really embarrassed about it when I asked him about it, but he finally admitted that he was singing.
Tyson in his banana helmet. It cracks me up. Spiderman had to go along with us for the ride. Tyson kept telling me it was fun to ride. He made himself a seat belt out of a bungee cord by attaching it to the rack on the back of the bike. He thought he was pretty cool.

Piper's helmet is about 10 times to big for her and it kept slipping down over her eyes and she had to keep pushing it up. It was so cute. She loves the 4-wheeler and yells, "yeah!" the whole time!

Me and my kiddo's.
Josh and J.D. We all jumped on the bikes and went for a fun ride together. Josh was going up huge hills with them on and spinning donuts. Scares me to death.
We stopped at Costco on our way and grabbed a pizza. We had a picnic in the back of the truck.

Here is Josh showing J.D. how to shoot ants with the b.b. gun.

Where does the time go? That's by baby! He will be 7 in a month. Holy crow how time flies. He's such a good boy. So helpful and so smart. J.D. and I get a long. He is into sports and he loves to read. He is his momma's kid.
More picnicing in the truck.

Dang old mom forgot to bring the diaper bag so we all looked like dirty orphans when it was all said and done.

Tadpole Hunting

Today Mandee and I took our kids to the Washington Park to hunt for tadpoles. It is such a pretty park. I love all the shade trees and the walking path with the river running next to it. They also have the funnest canal that runs through the trees, that is full of clean water. The kids got dirty and soaked and then cleaned off in the nifty little canal.

HA, HA, HA! I love this picture. Her diaper expanded so much, that her shorts just couldn't contain it anymore!
J.D. in the stinky water. It smelled so bad, because there are parts of it that are stagnant. I kept telling the kids not to get bit by mosquito's or they would get West Nile Virus. YUCKY!

Still looking for tadpoles, but in the clean water.
Just keep looking, just keep looking.......

Some kind of pink mushroom that I found growing in the river. Interesting.......... If you know about a pink species of mushroom, I would be curious to know what kind it is.......

HA, HA, HA! Mia hates the water. I don't think Mandee's mean at all. They have to get over it sometimes. Silly girl, it was only her toes in the water.

We're going on a nature walk!!

More stinky water!
" Bug, bug, bug," says Piper.

All in all, it was pretty fun and the kids had an absolute blast! We will have to do it again. Logan caught one tadpole and a frog. I saw the frog first, but didn't have the kahunas to jump in the stinky water that was full of West Nile carrying mosquitoes.
I love being a mom!! It's the best job ever! Even when I had to take my stinky water drenched kids into Walmart! Gotta love it!
