Fun in the Snow

Christmas day we went up to Kannaraville to take the kids out on the sleds. They had a blast. it was freezing, though. So cold! I got back in the house and Libby asked if I had taken a shower because my hair was so wet.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We sure did. Santa was very generous and my kids will have plenty to do for several weeks. We spent the morning playing with all our new treasures and had a great big breakfast. We then spent the day in Kannarraville, with our good friends, the Williams. We had a great time. The kids got pulled around on the sleds behind the 4-wheelers and the adults ate and visited. Good times!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve!! What an eventful night for our little family. Every year we have the Doty family Christmas party. This year we went to Maggie and Erics house. It's alway's a lot of commotion and chaos when you have all the kids together, but it's fun. Here are a few pictures from our night.

Every year the entire Doty clan goes to Forgotten Carols. It's a tradition that we love. Well, my in-laws made each family their own set of Forgotton Carol Ornamnets. My father-in-law carved each of the ornaments. Seriously, the best gift ever. I ran right home and put them on me tree. What a keepsake to have. J.D. in his new jammies and his cowboy hat.

A busy time of year.

What a busy week it's been. Christmas is so much fun, but boy oh boy, it's alot of work!! Baking like a crazy lady and wrapping into the wee hours of the night. Sherry and her family came and stayed with us last week and the kids had a blast. It's alway's crazy when the kids are all together. Here is a few pictures from our week.

It's not boogers, it's green marker! It was everywhere. But I thought it looked especially good on her face. The girls a meance, but she's stinkin' cute.

J.D. lost his 3rd tooth on Sunday. I love this smile. I keep hoping the other top one will fall out so he can sing, all I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth!

This is all of my mom's grandkids!! All 6 of them. Unless Danny and Austin get married soon, it may be it for awhile. Or maybe, just maybe, Josh will quit being a scrooge and let me have another one!!!! A girl can dream can't she?

Me and Maggie at Forgotten Carols. It's a tradition to go with Josh's family every year. It's alway's so much fun and it alway's leaves me feeling the spirit of Christmas. This was my 8th year of going. I love it. If you have never been to it, you defiently need to get tickets and go next year. But they sell out fast!!

No School due to Snow

No School!! I never thought that I would see a snow day in St. George!! Lot's of snow! Here is how we spent our morning.

This was in my backyard. There was enormous amounts in the back yard. Big drifts up agianst the fence. The kids had so much fun sliding down the slide.

This was right when we first went out. Tons of snow in the front yard too.

I even went outside and joined in the fun. I helped the boys make a huge snowman. He tipped over about 2 hours after we made him. He was just to tall.

IT IS SNOWING

I don't particularly miss the snow. I am more of a desert dweller. I've adapted to the heat and I enjoy it. My kids however, love the snow. It's so much fun to have one of these rare day's in Dixie. It's supposed to snow for the next 3 days!!

One of The Best Kind of Day's

Yesterday we did nothing really productive. I cleaned house a little bit, but then I promised the kids that we would go to the park. We actually went to 2 parks and then out to Dairy Queen afterwards. We wasted the whole day, but it's one of those day's that you will always love and always remember. Nothing makes me happier than to see my kids smiling and having a good time.

The kids had so much fun playing in this ravine filled with leafs. I had a ton of pictures of them throwing them in the air and their little bums were so dirty from sliding down the hill. Nobody else was at the park and we had a blast!

Last night we had planned on decorating gingerbread men. We never got to do it, although I made them last night. So today we came home from church and decorated.

Letters To Santa

Tonight we wrote letters to the guy in Red!! It was fun to see J.D. write his very own letter! He did such a good job. The only words I had to help him with was chimney and and electric. I was going to translate, but you can read it very clearly.

Tyson actually is already writing his name. It's not all in order and written in huge disjointed lettering, but it's all the letters that are in his name! Impressed, I am. Poor 2nd child doesn't get the one on one he deserves. He started by writing the letters in his name, but then he scribbled around it so you can't really see it. He wants a Big Speed Racer and a Big Racer X car.

After we had our letters all sealed up and ready to be delivered to the Chilly Northern Pole we talked about how much we like Santa, but that the real reason we celebrate Christmas is to remember the Birth of Jesus Christ. We read The Crippled Lamb, by Max Lucado and then There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bell. And off to dream of Christmas wishes they went. I love being a Mom. It's these little teaching moments that I hope will stick with them throughout their lives. What do you want from the man in red? Me, I want a Canon digital camera and a Cricuit. Will I get either one of those, probably not, but it's nice to have a dream!

The Holiday's have us going like crazy. I hope that the next 2 weeks, I can just focus on what Christmas really means and that I can help my kids to understand the true meaning. Tyson was so cute last night. I had an enrichment activity which was awesome. We traveled to 3 different houses and met 3 different people from the life of Jesus. But they gave us this beautiful ornament that had a picture of the Savior inside. Tyson was started jumping up and down yelling, "We got Jesus, we got Jesus," over and over again. He was also waving his arms up in the air like he had just sunk the winning shot. Such a sweetie!

One of my very favorite memories of J.D. was when he was about 3 and he was being naughty at church, so we were walking the halls and looking at the pictures of the Savior on the wall. I was showing him the one of Jesus on the white Donkey, on Palm Sunday. J.D. blurts out, "Mom, I didn't know Jesus was a cowboy!" Oh the things kids say!!
